Long Term Disability

You are automatically enrolled in long term disability (LTD) insurance. New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) administers the plan.

How it Works

Long term disability insurance provides continuing income if you cannot work due to a prolonged illness or injury. Under the plan, disability means that, due to a covered injury or illness, you are unable to perform your regular occupation and you are unable to earn 80% or more of your earnings from working in your regular occupation. Any benefits you receive are subject to federal and state income taxes.

Stimson pays the full cost of your coverage.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you are an active, full-time hourly or salaried employee who regularly works at least 30 hours per week. Coverage begins on the first of the month following your date of hire.

At-A-Glance

Here’s a quick look at the LTD plan. For details, review the Long Term Disability Plan Policy for salaried employees or the Long Term Disability Plan Policy for hourly employees.
