Medical Overview

Stimson offers a high-deductible medical plan that includes a tax-advantaged Health Savings Account (HSA). The plan is administered by Aetna.

How It Works

The Stimson medical plan is a high-deductible plan administered by Aetna. You can use any provider you want, but you’ll pay less when you use in-network providers. The plan features an HSA which allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for eligible expenses now or in the future.

For most services, including prescription drugs, you need to meet an annual deductible. After that, you pay a percentage of the actual charges (also known as coinsurance) until the out-of-pocket maximum is met. Preventive care from an in-network provider is covered 100% with no deductible. Take a quick look at other covered medical services under the plan.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

The HSA is separate from the medical plan but the two work together. Stimson makes contributions to your HSA to help offset the medical plan deductible, which is like getting free money.

Annual contribution. At the beginning of year, Stimson contributes from $750 to $2,000 to your HSA, based on your pay and the medical plan coverage level you elect.

Additional Stimson contribution. You and your spouse can earn up to an additional $750 for your HSA if you participate in the Stimson wellness program—for a total contribution up to $1,500.

Employee contribution. You can contribute to your HSA on a pre-tax basis up to IRS limits. The advantage of an HSA is the tax savings. Your dollars go into the account tax free, grow tax free and can be used tax-free for eligible medical expenses.
