Divorce
If you are getting a divorce or ending a domestic partner relationship, you can make certain benefit changes without waiting for the next annual Open Enrollment.

What You Need to Do

Make benefit changes within 31 days after your dependent’s death on UltiPro. From the menu, select the “Myself” tab, then “Life Events.” Changes will take effect the first of the month following your dependent’s death. For example, if the death occurs November 7 and you make your changes November 12, benefit changes take effect December 1.

Changes You Can Make
Medical, Dental and Vision
  • Enroll yourself and dependent child(ren) in coverage if you were previously enrolled in your spouse’s coverage.
  • Drop coverage for your former spouse and your former spouse’s dependent children. Coverage ends on the last day of the month your divorce occurs.
  • Your former spouse and your former spouse’s dependent children may elect to continue coverage at their own cost for up to 18 months through COBRA. Within 60 days of your divorce, Stimson’s third-party COBRA administrator (PayFlex) must be notified, and written notice must be provided to Stimson’s Benefits Department. Once notified, PayFlex will send out a COBRA information packet. If COBRA is elected, coverage will be retroactive to the coverage end date. Review COBRA Coverage Premiums.
